Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Amy Chen (b. 1996) is a third-year art student studying art and political science at Washington University in St. Louis. While her concentration is primarily painting, she also employs printmaking and drawing in her work. Her work often has political themes. Much of her work investigates sociopolitical injustices, such as the inaccessibility of university education, or is driven by trauma stemming from her own life experiences or identities. Aside from art, Chen is involved in political activism. She has organized around campaign finance reform, reproductive justice, environmental justice, healthcare reform, and sexuality education in the last few years.
In her free time, she enjoys taking pictures of squirrels.
